- Mourning the loss of Chukwuemeka Agbo, polio champion: the GPEI expresses its heart-felt condolences at the sudden and tragic death of Dr Chukwuemeka Agbo, Polio Technical Officer, on 9 June in Amman, Jordan. Known by colleagues and friends as Emeka, 45, was a valued member of the WHO workforce for the last ten years, supporting immunization, polio eradication, and Ebola outbreak response in the African and Eastern Mediterranean regions. Colleagues across the Organization who have worked with him describe him as humble, energetic, considerate, kind and passionate about his work and a star performer. - Latest GPEI Integration fact sheet published: the latest semi-annual fact sheet on polio integration has been published, summarizing the GPEI’s efforts to use polio tools, staff, expertise and other resources to deliver important health interventions alongside polio interventions. The GPEI continues to strengthen its collaboration with a range of partners to integrate polio services with broader public health programmes.
