TF Ezekiel, Prosper Nnamdi, Uko to Compete in Nigerian Olympic Trials


WACO, Texas – Three Baylor track athletes will have the opportunity to represent their home country of Nigeria in the 2024 Olympics at the Nigerian Olympic Trials being hosted at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria from June 16-18, 2024.
 
Nathaniel Ezekiel, Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi and Imaobong Uko all will look to qualify and punch their ticket to Paris for the 2024 Olympics, which will take place from July 26-August 11.  
 
Ezekiel, a junior from Delta State, Nigeria, will compete in the 400-meter hurdles. Ezekiel currently ranks No. 1 in his home country in the event with a time of 48.00 flat. During the 2024 NCAA Championships, he claimed his second straight bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior ended his season with his sixth-total All-America honor and the third straight in the event.
 
Prosper Nnamdi, a junior from Awka, Nigeria, currently ranks No. 1 in Nigeria and 35th in the world in the men’s javelin throw event with a best of 271′ 8″. At the 2024 NCAA Championships, Prosper Nnamdi tabbed his third All-America honor in the event.
 
Uko, a junior native of Ibeno, Nigeria, will compete in the 400m sprint. She currently ranks No. 3 in Nigeria in the event. During her time in Oregon at the 2024 NCAA Championships, Uko closed out her open 400 collegiate season with a 52.40-second race for 18th, a mark that fell second only this season to her first-round time of 52.22. She also competed in the 4x400m-relay, where her group clocked their best time of the year at 3:34.71.
