The newspaper Bild has reported an incident that occurred during the fans’ parade before the first match of the 2024 European Football Championship between the national teams of Poland and the Netherlands.
Police officers reportedly opened fire as an unidentified man with an axe attacked fans of the teams and the police. It is reported that the assailant was carrying a bottle of flammable liquid (a so-called “Molotov cocktail”). The attacker suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and is currently receiving medical assistance.
The game between the Whites And Reds and the Oranje will take place at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg on June 16 starting at 16:00 GMT+3. The match will be officiated by a referee team led by Portuguese Artur Soares Dias.
On June 11, it was noted that forward Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona and the “Eagles” will miss the national team’s first game due to an injury.
