IPOB debunks alleged forced resignation of Southeasterners from army  — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, has debunked what it termed the ‘Nigerian Army’s concocted propaganda’ that its activists abducted a soldier sent to spy on the Biafra movement’s activities, forcing him to call for the resignation of Biafran soldiers from the Nigerian Army.

The group said that though it has called for the resignation of Biafrans serving in the Nigerian security agencies, IPOB will never force South-East personnel in the security agencies to resign their positions.

A statement signed by the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, which was made available to newsmen yesterday, described the allegation as a propaganda spread, while also denying claims that the IPOB captured a spying Nigerian soldier and forced him to deliver a message to the Biafran soldiers serving in the army.

The statement noted: “The Directorate of State (DOS) of IPOB wish to debunk the Nigerian Army’s concocted propaganda that the peaceful and unarmed IPOB activists abducted a Nigeria soldier sent to Biafra land to spy on the Biafra movement and forced him to call for the resignation of Biafran soldiers in the Nigerian Army.”

“The propaganda from the army’s spokesperson is a self-staged crime by the Army’s leadership.

“Though IPOB has called for Biafrans serving in the Nigerian security agencies to resign, IPOB has never forced and will never force our brothers and sisters in the security agencies to resign their positions.”
