380 students bag MTN scholarship award — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

380 students from different tertiary institutions across the country, among them blind students, on Thursday, bagged the 2024 MTN Scholarship awards.

Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Denis Okoro, disclosed during the 2024 MTN Scholarship Award Ceremony held in Enugu for the Southeast and South-South Zones that the awards were part of their contributions to educational development.

Okoro charged the beneficiaries to be committed, resilient, and focused on their education to maintain the scholarship award.

He noted that the award was not just like any other scholarship, as they have continued to be given only to intelligent and resilient students who merited it.

Okoro further pointed out that the award has become so competitive that for them to renew the scholarship, beneficiaries must maintain the same GPA requirements for it.

“MTN has a brand and we don’t dilute it. If you have the MTN scholarship, know that you merited it and be consistent with your studies. Those who are leaving us on this scholarship to pursue their careers, I will leave you with this advice: as you leave the game today, your professors and lecturers are not there to guide you.

“You are entering into a toxic world where, for the first time, you will see all sorts of human beings. The idea is that you know who to trust and, above all, never place absolute trust in any human being,” he stated.

In remarks, the Commissioner for Children, Gender and Social Development in Enugu, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, who represented Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, thanked MTN for including people with disabilities in the scholarship.

She disclosed that the event was in line with what Governor Mbah stands for, stressing that the governor was working hard to equip the people of the state with digital literacy so that they would not be left behind.
