EPL: 4 Matches we could see shock results this weekend

Following matches in the Game Week 1 of the newly-expanded Champions League and some fixtures in the Carabao Cup, Premier League teams will return to their domestic schedules this weekend.

Most fans and enthusiasts are looking forward to Manchester City’s clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

But there are a couple of interesting matches that will be played on Saturday.

And we could also see a few surprising results in some of them.

1. West Ham vs Chelsea: Last weekend, Chelsea were able to escape from Bournemouth with a narrow 1-0 win. Enzo Maresca’s men struggled for most of the game and were lucky not to concede at 0-0 after Evanilson saw his weak penalty saved by Robert Sanchez. However, West Ham will not be in such a generous mood in what promises to be a tasty London Derby.

2. Liverpool vs Bournemouth: Arne Slot recorded his first defeat last time out. Having begun the season with three wins, Liverpool lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield. And although the Reds bounced back with a 3-1 victory over out-of-sorts AC Milan, Bournemouth will provide another stern test for them. The Cherries went toe-to-toe with Chelsea at home, but ended up losing. They have a chance to put that right.

3. Crystal Palace vs Man Utd: In this same fixture earlier this year, Crystal Palace humiliated Manchester United 4-0. And although Michael Olise has left for Bayern Munich this summer, the Eagles still have Eberechi Eze and have added Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal. On the other hand, Andre Onana’s penalty save was crucial as United went on to win 3-0 at Southampton last weekend. If Cameron Archer has converted from the spot, it could have been a different matter.

4. Tottenham vs Brentford: Forget the lucky 2-1 win over Coventry City in the Carabao Cup in midweek, the pressure is beginning to build on Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham lost to a depleted Arsenal side in the North London Derby and this weekend, they have to find a way past Brentford, who gave champions Manchester City a run for their money at the Etihad. Spurs have a weakness with set-pieces and that will have the Bees rubbing their palms.
