We’ll not compromise national security – Interior Minister

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo says innovations introduced by the Ministry have been geared towards rendering seamless services and making things easier for Nigerians and investors without compromising national security.

The Minister made this known while receiving a delegation of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, led by its President, Davidson Alaribe.

While explaining that there was still room for improvement in the matter of the acquisition of passports, Tunji-Ojo said the contactless passport solution would soon come on board, adding that Nigerians would be able to renew their passports without going to the passport office.

According to him, the Ministry was ready to partner with ICAN to optimize its workforce, and service delivery across the Ministry and its Agencies.

Speaking earlier, the President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Alaribe applauded the Minister for modernizing the Nigeria Passport Offices, making it seamless and easy for people to renew and get their passports.

He said the commitment of the Minister to reforming the Immigration, Civil Defence Corps and modernizing public sector safety measures has significantly improved border control, national security, and service efficiency.

“The Minister’s leadership in digitization, especially in e-passport services and visa reforms have streamlined business operations and strengthened Nigeria’s international relationship,” Alaribe added.
