Jose Peseiro has reacted to his nomination for the 2024 International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s World Best National Team Coach award.
DAILY POST reports that the former Super Eagles handler is among the 20 coaches nominated for the prestigious award.
Peseiro guided the Super Eagles to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire early this year.
The Portuguese left the position following the expiration of his contract in February.
He has not return to coaching since leaving the post.
Peseiro thanked Super Eagles players and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their positive contribution.
“Very proud and pleased to receive this nomination from IFFHS, a recognition that reflects the hard work and dedication that my coaching staff and I have invested over the years in serving the Nigerian national team.
“The records we break go down in history, as well as the unforgettable walk to the final of the AFCON,” Peseiro wrote on X.
“Thanks to the Nigerian Football Federation, the players for the dedication they showed in every training session and competition, and also the entire staff and fans who supported us and believed in our work.”
