Suspected herders invade Sen Suswam’s village in Benue, many reportedly dead, others injured


Armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, have reportedly attacked Senator Gabriel Suswam’s hometown in Anyim in Logo Local Government Areas of Benue State, sacking thousands of residents.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday when the community came under severe attack by suspected armed Fulani herders killing many farmers.

Eyewitness accounts said fifteen dead bodies have been recovered from the bush and the search is still ongoing.

A community leader, Elder Johnson Kwar, who gave an account said the incident lasted for three hours beginning 7pm up to 9pm same evening.

The attack has thrown the community into panic as people have fled the town to neighbouring communities to take refuge.

Sources revealed that the few military personnel and other security operatives in the area were taken unaware by the attackers.

According to sources, immediately after the attack on Anyiin settlement, the armed herders proceeded to Ayilamo community another settlement close to Anyiin, wreaking another round of mayhem on farmers along the Ayilamo-Fofi-Abeda road, killing three and leaving two victims with various degrees of mighty injuries.

Efforts to reach the Benue Police Command Spokesperson, SP, Catherine Anene for any further details have been unsuccessful.
