The Labour Party governorship aspirant for the upcoming 2025 election in Anambra has condemned the plan of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to build a close to N1 billion water fountain in his local government secretariat.
Soludo and his executive council had, in the last meeting, approved the construction of some roads in Anambra State, including the building of a water fountain in Aguata Local Government Secretariat, where he hails from.
Nwosu, in a post shared on his verified X handle, condemned the move, describing it as a waste of public funds.
He said: “We note the recent infrastructural projects approved by the Anambra State Exco. While the construction of Nwagu Agulu to Nnobi to Nnewi Road and the Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road are germane, the proposed Light of the Nation Tower and Fountain at Ekwulobia begs the question.
“Such landmarks should decorate the frontiers of Anambra State. Unquestionably, the resources meant for the tower can be better deployed to repair the numerous cratered and badly dilapidated roads statewide or for upgrading the state’s security infrastructure.”
Nwosu lamented that such should be expected in an election period where the governor is desperate to make a mark.
“Service and project delivery are core competencies of any government. They ought to be salutary. However, waiting for the cusp of an election to commence necessary programmes and projects is self-evident politicking. Such ploys are hardly in good faith. And haste makes waste!” he added.
