The Iwhreko community of Ughelli North local government area of Delta state, has condemned in its entirety the abominable act allegedly committed by their son, Mr. Ovoke Miuweme during the Ughelli Kingdom “Celebration of Unity and Remembrance of Her Past Great Kings” by His Royal Majesty, Evang. Prof. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi lll JP, Ovie of Ughelli Great Kingdom.
The young man, Mr. Ovoke Muiweme, had on 26th October, 2024, attempted in several occasions to sit on the sacred and royal chair of His Royal Majesty, Oharisi lll, Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, during the Unity celebration ceremony held at the Ughelli Stadium, lghwreovie road, Otovwodo, Ughelli Kingdom.
In a statement by Iwhreko community leaders and released to newsmen, the President General, Engr. David Omotor, the Okpako Orere, Iwhreko community and Okpako Ilorogun Ughelli kingdom, Chief Miller Uloho, the Spokesperson of Council of Women, Madam Arigo Okotie, Uvwie Council Spokesperson, Mr Taiwo Olotu and the Youth Chairman, Comrade Augustine Okirhieri had all condemned the abominable act.
The President General, Engr. David Omotor and other leaders who spoke to newsmen at the ancestral home of the lwhreko community, said they did not only condemn the abominable act displayed by the young man but also distanced the community and its leadership from his action.
Engr. Omotor, who had on behalf of the Iwhreko community pledged its unalloyed loyalty to HRM Oharisi lll, Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, said Iwhreko community has no other king and traditional ruler apart from HRM Evang. Prof. W. O. Oharisi lll JP, Ovie of Ughelli Grat Kingdom.
Speaking further on the issue, President General, Engr. David Omotor said, “We want to sincerely apologise and say sorry for the abominable act committed by the young man, hence we have come out openly not only to condemn the act but also to distance ourselves from the act committed by the young man, and this is sacrilegious to the traditional stool of Ughelli kingdom.
“We are your subjects and it is on this note and to expressed out heartfelt dismay over the abominable act that we decided to make our position on the issue public to the entire Ughelli kingdom, and also the father of the young man, Pa Awolowo Miuweme also condemned the abominable act of his son, Mr. Ovoke Miuweme, as we wait to see the truth and those behind the incident unfolds.”
