Former Manchester United star, Jaap Stam, has said that Ruud van Nistelrooy will leave Old Trafford.
According to him, his former teammate will not remain as an assistant to Ruben Amorim.
Stam told Metro that the incoming manager, Amorim will be bringing his own staff.
He said this would make Nistelrooy just another assistant at the club, adding that the Dutchman is too good to be in that role:
“A man like Ruud needs to have a certain position within the club…
“Amorin will probably want to bring in his own assistants, people he has worked with over the years.
Stam pointed out that if that happens the former Netherlands striker would become just another assistant or one of the coaches.
He believes that is not the right position for the Red Devils legend.
“I don’t think so, I would find that hard to believe, because Ruud has more in his locker than being just one of the coaches for Manchester United.
“It will be up to Ruud of course but I can’t see him doing that under new management.”
Nistelrooy has finished tenure as the interim manager at Manchester United unbeaten, winning three and drawing to Chelsea.
The Dutchman has also confirmed that he wants to stay and help the club.
