AUSTIN, Texas — Across Texas, lawmakers are preparing bills for the upcoming legislative session and one could impact grade-school students.
A state representative out of the Austin area filed a bill that could ban students from using cell phones in school.
The proposed bill would require kids to put their phones in a lock box at the start of the school day. They would be able to get their phone back when school is dismissed.
If passed, the ban would go into effect at the start of the 2025 school year.
