HOUSTON — An 18-year-old is charged with child endangerment after Harris County Precinct 4 deputies say he locked a 6-year-old inside a dryer.

According to court records, Haven Duncan, 18, will appear in court on Wednesday morning. Two other people were also arrested in connection with the case.

Duncan appeared in probable cause court Tuesday, where additional details emerged about the incident. This happened at a laundromat on Kuykendahl Road just west of the North Freeway on Monday.

According to the judge, the child became upset after losing a bag of chips. Video footage from the laundromat shows Duncan placing the 6-year-old in the dryer. The judge described how the other two individuals arrested were involved.

“One of the others, I believe it’s Life Ford, helps you hold the dryer door closed, and Mr. Gill, Jagory inserts money and starts the dryer. This is reportedly shown on video, and the dryer ran for approximately a minute before the child was taken out,” the judge read out loud.

Witnesses called authorities and EMS as this was happening, according to Precinct 4.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the child shaking and crying, Precinct 4 stated. Deputies tried to detain the three suspects, but one of the men attempted to flee.

When deputies tried to go after him, Life Ford stepped in front and pushed one of the deputies, Pct. 4 said. She was taken into custody.

Deputies arrested Duncan, who also had a gun on him, Pct. 4 said. Jaqory Gill, the suspect who ran, was caught after a perimeter was set up.

Duncan’s bond was set at $10,000, and he’s due back in court later this morning.

Gill was charged with evading on foot. His bond was set at $100. Ford was charged with interfering with the duties of a public servant. Her bond was set at $100.

Meanwhile, we learned the 6-year-old is OK and was released to a guardian who arrived at the laundromat.
