1. President Bola Tinubu on Friday praised the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, following their unanimous support for the four Tax Reform Bills now awaiting consideration by the National Assembly. Tinubu described the governors’ action as a sign of their commitment to advancing Nigeria’s economic development and national unity.
2. Policemen have launched a frantic search for one Mrs. Odumosu, rumoured to be wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu, following her abduction by some masked gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. Mrs. Odumosu was abducted at the gate of her residence on Friday in the Arepo community of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.
3. Armed internet fraudsters have killed an officer after opening fire on a team of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Anambra. The incident which occurred on Friday, left another critically injured as the officers scampered to safety due to the unexpected gunshots.
4. Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, says the country needed N18 trillion to fix its roads infrastructure. The minister, however, said the annual provisions in the National Assembly Appropriation Bills would not be able to address it.
5. Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory is once again threatened with another bout of blackout as vandals stole cables supplying 60 percent of electricity to the city. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN in a statement on Friday stated that vandals tampered with the 132kV transmission line and underground cables taking power to Central Area and environs in Abuja, causing power outage.
6. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced an adjustment in its pricing structure for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol. In a notice on Friday titled, “Communication on PMS Price Review”, the refinery announced the new pricing structure setting the new bulk purchase rate at N955 per litre for customers purchasing between 2 million and 4.99 million litres.
7. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, affirmed Mr. Julius Abure as the authentic National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP. The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel, upheld the October 8, judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to grant the LP under Abure’s leadership, all the rights and privileges accorded a political party.
8. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, on Friday paraded 36 scavengers arrested across Abuja for alleged involvement in criminal activities, including vandalism and theft of public infrastructure. Addressing journalists, the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended in various parts of the city centre and suburbs as part of an ongoing crackdown on scavengers, locally known as Baban bola.
9. Ondo State Police Command said it has arrested seven persons in connection with the communal clash which occurred at Gbalegi community in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday. No fewer than five persons have reportedly been killed during the communal crisis.
10. The Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, has urged all six governors of the Southwest to treat the influx of insurgents and terrorists, fleeing military bombardment in the North into forests in the region with the urgency it deserves. OPC’s President, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi, who made the call in a statement on Friday, offered the assistance of the Congress in tackling the menace.
