Arsenal give up two-goal lead to draw Aston Villa 2-2 in thrilling encounter


Arsenal shared the spoils with Aston Villa in their Saturday Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium, despite initial two-goal lead.

Arsenal took the lead early in the game when Gabriel Martinelli scored from close range, assisted by Leandro Trossard, putting the Gunners ahead 1-0.

The home side extended their lead in the second half with Kai Havertz’s goal, making it 2-0.

However, Aston Villa fought back with determination. Youri Tielemans pulled one back for Villa in the 61st minute, heading in a cross from Lucas Digne.

The equalizer came from Ollie Watkins, who scored with a volley off a cross from Matty Cash in the 68th minute, leveling the score at 2-2.

The match saw intense moments towards the end, including an Arsenal goal disallowed for handball by Havertz in the 89th minute.

Despite Arsenal’s efforts to regain the lead, the game ended with both teams sharing the points.
