Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has said he would be “shocked” if Liverpool does not go on to win the Premier League title this year.
Merson was speaking on Sky Sports after Saturday’s games that saw the Gunners drop points at home while Darwin Nunez scored two late goals for the Reds at Brentford.
Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a two-goal lead against Aston Villa at the Emirates.
However, Mikel Arteta’s men had to settle for a point, after Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins scored the visitors within nine minutes.
Liverpool now has a six-point lead over Arsenal and still holds a game in hand.
Merson was downbeat on Arsenal’s title hopes after the disappointing result.
“Liverpool scoring two goals in injury time, Arsenal 2-0 up, back to two all.
“[It’s] a massive swing. I’ll be shocked now if Liverpool didn’t go on to win the league,” Merson said.
