Armed bandits attacked the Ni’asu-Dantankari road in Katsina on Thursday night, opening fire on vehicles and abducting 13 travelers.
The incident was disclosed in a statement by security analyst, Bakatsine on his X handle on Friday.
According to him, a swift response from a joint team of the Nigerian Army, Community Watch Corps (CWC), and vigilante members led to the rescue of 10 victims after a fierce confrontation.
He also expressed concerns over rising insecurity in Katsina South Senatorial District, which he linked to the peace deal in Kaduna State.
He said, “Yesterday night, bandits blocked the Ni’asu-Dantankari road, opened fire on vehicles and abducted 13 people. However, a joint team of the Nigerian Army, CWC and vigilante group members pursued and engaged them, successfully rescuing 10 victims.
“Sincerely speaking, the peace deal in Kaduna State has led to an increase in attacks in Katsina South Senatorial District, which shares a border with Kaduna,” Bakatsine wrote.
