1. Dangote Petroleum Refinery, on Wednesday, announced a reduction in the ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, commonly referred to as petrol, by N65.00. This means the price will drop from N890 to N825 per litre, effective Thursday, February 27, 2025.
2. Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched an attack on Kwapre and surrounding villages in Hong local government area of Adamawa State, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Eyewitnesses reported that the attack began at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, and lasted into the early hours of Wednesday, February 26, during which schools, houses, and businesses were set ablaze and valuable assets were looted.
3. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID-Intelligence Response Team (IRT) tactical team to ensure the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere youth leader, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while en route to Abuja.
4. The House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets has alleged an abuse of the concession and public private partnership arrangement between the Federal Airport Authority of a Nigeria (FAAN) and its partners. The Green Chamber said this denied the government accrued revenue.
5. Justice Rahman Oshodi of an Ikeja Special Offences Court on Wednesday refused to recuse himself from the ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele. Ruling of the matter, Justice Oshodi held that the defence team failed to substantiate its allegation of bias against him.
6. The Naira on Wednesday appreciated to N1,490 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,502 per dollar on Tuesday. Similarly, the Naira apprectiated to N1,499.8 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, NFEM.
7. Delta State Police command has confirmed that a boat mishap on a river in Warri South Local Government Area of the state, claimed five passengers. Meanwhile, 20 others remain missing after the accident. The state Police spokesman, Mr. Bright Edafe added that six were found and hospitalized.
8. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed two police officers during a foiled kidnapping operation around Little Rayfield community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos, stating that four suspects had been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction.
9. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, on Wednesday, sought a bailout for the ruling party over N8.9bn election debts. Ganduje revealed that the party’s accounts had been garnisheed following the huge debt resulting from the cases filed by the opposition parties to challenge the elections of President Bola Tinubu, APC governors and legislators.
10. A former acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku, on Wednesday, urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to grant him time to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged N1.96bn fraud.
