New Manchester City signing, Claudio Echeverri, has suggested that club legend Sergio Agüero convinced him to join the Cityzens.
Echeverri signed for City in January 2024 but was loaned back to River Plate to continue his development.
However, the 19-year-old is now ready to take the next step in his career at Manchester City.
“I’ve spoken to [Sergio] Agüero,” Echeverri told the club’s website on Thursday.
“I also talked to Martín Demichelis. They told me City was a great club with amazing players and a rich history.
“I was already aware of the special connection between Argentina and Manchester City. Agüero, in particular, stands out.”
Echeverri will become the 12th Argentinian to play for City, following in the footsteps of stars such as Agüero, Pablo Zabaleta, Carlos Tevez, Willy Caballero, Nicolás Otamendi, Demichelis, and Julián Álvarez.
