Two more suspects nabbed in Jos kidnapping case, stolen AK-47 recovered


The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two more suspects linked to Tuesday’s attempted abduction on Little Rayfield Road, Jos, which resulted in the deaths of two police officers.
The newly arrested suspects, Abubakar Mohammed and Ahmed Musa, were found in possession of the AK-47 rifle stolen from the slain officers during the attack.

Confirming the development in a statement on Friday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, revealed that an additional 75 rounds of live ammunition were also recovered from the suspects. This brings the total number of arrests concerning the incident to six.

“Following the attempted kidnapping on Little Rayfield Road, Jos, where two of our officers were killed in a gun battle and an AK-47 rifle was stolen, we have now arrested two more suspects, bringing the total to six. The stolen weapon has been recovered along with 75 rounds of live ammunition,” the statement read.

The police further stated that efforts were being intensified to track down other members of the syndicate and recover additional arms and ammunition.

“We are committed to eliminating criminal activities and ensuring peace and security in the state,” the statement added.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Plateau State Police Control Room or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in case of emergencies.
