Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has urged Christians to deepen their faith and embrace the spirit of sacrifice as they begin the 2025 Lenten season, a 40-day period of fasting and reflection leading up to Easter.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor emphasized the significance of Lent as a time for self-discipline, repentance, humility, and unwavering devotion to God.
He encouraged believers to use this period to strengthen their spiritual commitment and seek divine guidance.
Governor Bago noted that this year’s Lent coincides closely with the start of Ramadan, presenting a unique opportunity for both Christians and Muslims to unite in prayer for peace, progress, and prosperity in the state and the nation.
He also called on citizens to pray for their leaders at all levels of government, stressing the need for divine wisdom to foster good governance and positive change in society.
While congratulating Christians on the commencement of Lent, the governor wished them a spiritually fulfilling journey and urged them to uphold the values of the season beyond the fasting period.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Bago assured all citizens that his administration remains dedicated to serving without bias, promoting unity, and ensuring the well-being of the people.
