The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State on Thursday commiserated with the Minister of State for Health, Iziaq Salako, over the demise of his mother, Alhaja Fadilat Anike Salako.
She died on Wednesday at the age of 95.
DAILY POST reports that Salako, in a terse statement issued on behalf of the family in Ayetoro town, Ogun State, announced that their mother and grandmother, Alhaja Fadilat Anike Salako, had returned peacefully to her Creator.
He wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. With deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Alhaja Fadilat Anike Salako, who returned to her Creator on the night of 5th March 2025 at the age of 95.
“She will be buried in accordance with Islamic rites in Ayetoro, Yewa North LG of Ogun State, today, 6th March 2025, by 4 pm. May Allah grant Mama Aljannah Firdaus.”
The APC Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, quoted APC State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, as taking consolation in the fact that the deceased matriarch of the Salako family not only died at the ripe age of 95 but also in the holy month of Ramadan.
According to him, it is an occurrence that is considered very spiritually positive and much-wished-for by aged Muslims.
The statement reads: “The death of one’s close relative, especially a mother, even at the advanced age of 95 years, is always very painful and emotionally exerting,” Sanusi said.
“It is on this note that we not only sympathize with you but also ask you, as a devout Muslim yourself, to take solace in the fact that from Allah we all came, and to Him we shall all return.
“Mama has left a good legacy in good offspring, including your Honourable self, who continues to serve our nation diligently and selflessly.
“May Allah grant your loving and caring mother Aljannah Firdaus and give the Salako family, relatives, friends, and associates the grace to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement added.
