Ogun: 9-year-old boy missing as hoodlums cart away cattle


The Ogun State Police command says it has launched a manhunt for three yet-to-be unidentified men who stormed a cattle settlement to steal cows in Ado Odo/Ota local government area of the state.

The incident occurred at about 1am Thursday, at a cattle settlement belonging to one Yahaya Adamu in Idologbo bush via Idi-Oke, Igbesa.

DAILY POST learnt that the suspects, in the process, held Yahaya’s two sons, 9-year-old Isah Adamu, and 15 years Dahiru Adamu, hostage while raiding and carting away 100 cows.

The suspects later took Isah and demanded he lead them to his father’s location.

Confirming the incident to DAILY POST, the police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that Yahaya had reported the incident to the Idi-Oke division at about 12pm on the said date.

According to her, the complainant said on getting the report, he mobilized his friends, pursued the thieves into the bush and the stolen cows were recovered at Latikay, Lusada area, but his son, Isah, was not found.

Odutola noted that upon the information, officers from the division swiftly visited the scene, combed the surrounding bushes, and initiated investigations to trace the missing child and apprehend the perpetrators.

She stated, “On the 6th March 2025, at about 1200hrs, one Adamu Yahaya (male) of Akile Idologbo, reported that at about 0100hrs, three unidentified young men stormed their cattle settlement in Idologbo bush via Idi-Oke.

“They held his two sons, Dahiru Adamu (male, 15 years old) and Isah Adamu (male, 9 years old), hostage while raiding the settlement and carting away about a hundred (100) cows.

“The suspects later took Isah Adamu and demanded he lead them to his father’s location. Upon receiving information about the incident, the complainant mobilized his friends and pursued the thieves into the bush. They successfully recovered the stolen cows at Latikay Lusada area, but his son, Isah Adamu, remains missing”.

Odutola, while assuring that continuous efforts were ongoing to locate the missing child, urged members of the public with any useful information about the whereabouts of the minor or the identity of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
