A notorious kidnapper and armed robber, identified as Abdullahi also known as Honor, has been neutralised in a joint security operation involving the Nasarawa State Police Command, the Nigerian Army, and local vigilante groups.
The operation, which took place on March 14, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m., led to the interception of the suspect near the Akwanga Central Mosque while he was riding a motorcycle.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect attempted to evade arrest but was fatally shot by security operatives.
Following the operation, a search conducted on the deceased led to the recovery of one Beretta pistol and twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition. His body has since been deposited at the Akwanga General Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, one accomplice managed to escape with gunshot wounds, prompting security agencies to launch a manhunt for his capture.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the operatives for their professional conduct and collaboration, urging them to sustain efforts in the ongoing fight against crime in the state
