Fulani community in Plateau denies it’s plotting to attack LGs in state

The Fulani community in Plateau State has dismissed allegations that it is plotting attacks on communities in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Bokkos, and Bassa local government areas, describing the claims as baseless and dangerous.

A viral report had alleged that secret meetings were held at various locations, including a mosque in Mahanga, to plan attacks during Ramadan.

However, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Yusuf Ibrahim Babayo, strongly refuted the claims, stating they were meant to incite violence against Fulani settlements.

“We condemn these spurious and unsubstantiated allegations in the strongest terms. These baseless accusations undermine our integrity, perpetuate harmful stereotypes, and stigmatise our community,” Babayo said in a statement on Sunday.

He further called on security agencies to investigate the source of the allegations while urging them to ensure the safety of Fulani communities.

“As law-abiding citizens, we call on the GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, and the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, to investigate these allegations and uncover the truth,” he added.
