Group condemns corps member Rita Uguamaye’s utterances against Tinubu, calls for constructive criticism

The Association of Arewa Yoruba Youth, AAYY, has strongly condemned the personal attacks on President Bola Tinubu by a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Lagos State, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, over her recent criticisms.

In a statement, the National Coordinator of AAYY, Ambassador Lawal Hussein Taiye, urged Nigerians to refrain from making personal attacks on government officials, emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism on matters of national interest.

According to him, “While we acknowledge that Nigerians are facing significant challenges, it is evident that things are beginning to take a positive turn due to the sound economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our grievances should focus on identifying the best ways to address these challenges rather than resorting to abusive language, which only worsens the situation.”

He added that there are various ways to communicate concerns to those in power to ensure they listen and act in the nation’s best interest, warning that resorting to inappropriate means is not acceptable in a civilized society that values peaceful coexistence.

Hussein, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the Tinubu Mukeso Group, expressed dismay over how some politicians have manipulated the issue to suit their narratives. He emphasized that governance is a continuous process in which each administration inherits numerous challenges from its predecessors, and the Tinubu-led government is no exception.

He stated, “For the country to progress in all aspects of life, we must embrace constructive criticism aimed at finding workable solutions that foster understanding and long-term resolutions. Any misguided advice or actions lead to a negative impact on the entire nation. Therefore, as a people who desire positive change, we must act in ways that serve the collective interest.”

The group appealed to Nigerians to harness their diversity as a source of strength and unity to propel the country forward, despite any challenges that may arise.
