The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the air component of Operation Hadin Kai, has launched a powerful airstrike on an ISWAP stronghold in Chillaria, a notorious hideout within the Timbuktu Triangle in Northeast Borno State.
Security analyst, zagazola Makama reports that, acting on credible intelligence, NAF fighter jets, including A-29 Super Tucanos, tracked the terrorists to a concealed location where they were regrouping under dense tree cover and thick vegetation.
The airstrikes were executed with pinpoint accuracy, neutralizing scores of insurgents and forcing the few survivors to flee in chaos. Aerial surveillance later confirmed multiple impact points and secondary explosions, indicating that the terrorists had been stockpiling weapons and explosives at the site.
“The terrorists believed they could hide under thick foliage, but our Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance platforms identified their location. Once confirmed, the airstrikes were launched with devastating effect. Dozens were neutralized, and the survivors fled in total disarray,” a source disclosed.
This latest operation reinforces NAF’s sustained offensive against ISWAP remnants in the Lake Chad region and the Timbuktu Triangle as part of Operation Desert Sanity 4.
Senior military officials at the Theatre Command reaffirmed that with continued air superiority, the armed forces remain committed to ensuring that no safe haven exists for insurgents planning attacks against civilians and security forces.
