The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has urged officers under his command to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.
Speaking at the Police Officers Mess in Bompai, Kano, on Wednesday, Bakori reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability. He called on police personnel to align with these values while carrying out their duties.
After receiving a briefing from his predecessor, AIG Salman Dogo Garba, and the Command’s Management Team, Bakori stated that a careful analysis of crime patterns in Kano had been conducted.
Key security concerns identified include thuggery, drug abuse, domestic violence, kidnapping in border areas, and cybercrime.
To address these threats, the command has developed a comprehensive action plan.
Bakori emphasized that proactive strategies would be deployed to curb thuggery and mobile phone armed robbery while ensuring the protection of lives and property.
He also highlighted the need for collaboration with relevant stakeholders to combat drug abuse, with a focus on rehabilitation and reintegration programs.
On the issue of kidnapping along Kano’s border local government areas, Bakori disclosed that the command would enhance intelligence gathering and work closely with local communities and neighboring states to prevent and respond to incidents.
Increased border patrols and strengthened community partnerships will be part of these efforts.
The commissioner called on all stakeholders to support the police in maintaining peace and security across the state.
