After wowing her fans and movie lovers with the award winning, ‘Breaded Life,” and stamping her creative flair of directing with ‘Aki and Pawpaw’, award winning Biodun Stephens has tried her creative hands at the delicate drama-comedy genre movie titled ‘Momiwa’.

‘Momiwa’ which streams on Amazon Prime platform, is about the story of a family and their beloved happy-go-lucky housekeeper.

However, things go awry when the missing wife comes back into the picture and begins to complicate things, causing tensions that threaten to tear the once-peaceful family apart.
London Film School-trained Biodun Stephens is not new to Nollywood productions as she has so many titles to her credit- some her personal works, others hired by producers.

The movie has alluring Iyabo Ojo, Blessing Obasi-Nze, Uzor Arukwe, MC Licely, Precious Udoh and others.
Blessing Obasi’s performance as Momiwa captivated those who have watched with her accent and impeccable acting as she really delivered on her role interpretation, leaving viewers mostly understanding of the family’s initially weird attachment to her. Her chemistry with Uzor Arukwe wowed movie buffs.

The effect of post-natal depression which is hardly talked about in our society played out in Momiwa. It can start slowly or suddenly, and can range from very mild and transient, to severe and lingering. For most women, it passes quickly, but others will need professional help.

Momiwa, a narrative and character already made popular by skit-maker, Mr Macaroni, shares similarities with Stephen’s former movie, ‘Sista’, as they reflect on the struggles of single parenting, and also themes of family and betrayal.
