Anyanwu: Imo PDP reacts as Supreme Court refuses to grant stay of execution position

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State chapter, has reacted to the judgement of the Supreme Court over the party’s national secretary position.

It said it remains law abiding until the final judgement.

A press statement from its spokesperson, Lancelot Obiaku, said that the State chapter of the party would continue to frown at the desperate efforts of some elements to always plant confusion through spreading of fake news.

He stated that the party is urging its members and teeming supporters in the State to remain calm and focused now that the Supreme Court will soon put to end the dispute involving the leader of the party in the State, Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.

The party’s spokesperson maintained that the Supreme Court’s decision to reserve judgement on the case brought before it by Anyanwu challenging the judgement of the Enugu Court of Appeal, which he stated controversially removed Anyanwu, was in order.

“It is, therefore, important to clear that at no time did the apex court strike out the motion for stay of execution for lack of merit or for any other reason other than the fact that it is no longer consequential given the above mentioned circumstances,” he further stated.

The PDP spokesperson pointed out that Anyanwu’s participation in contesting the state governorship position did not contradict the party’s constitution as he had never occupied any public position after the election.
