Bauchi Govt denies dissolution of Scholarship Board

Bauchi State Government has denied rumours circulating on social media that it has dissolved the State Scholarship Board and stopped payment of bursaries to students attending schools within and outside the country.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado on Thursday, denied a report circulating on social media and attributed to the Governor’s Media Adviser, which suggests the dissolution of the State Scholarship Board.

The statement claimed that economic hardship and reduced federal allocations have led to the government’s inability to continue providing scholarships, prompting the Board’s dissolution.

Responding, Gidado clarified that the information is entirely false and does not represent the stance of the Bauchi State Government.

“At no time has the government issued any directive to dissolve the Scholarship Board or suspend scholarships for deserving students.”

The governor’s media aide assured that the administration remains dedicated to supporting education and the welfare of students across the state.

“Despite the economic challenges facing the country, the Bauchi State Government consistently prioritizes education, recognizing its importance for the future of our state. We affirm that the scholarship program is active, and scholarships will continue to be paid on time,” he stated

The government also urged the public, especially students and parents, to dismiss the rumoured statement.

It reiterated that official communications from the State Government will be released through authorized channels and verified sources.

Gidado further assured that under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, the State Government remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and the advancement of education in Bauchi.
