Burglars cart away sewing machine, ATM cards, other valuables in Ebonyi

A middle-aged Mrs Nwankwo Chimeremeze has lamented the disappearance of her sewing machine, two Automated Teller Machine cards, and several other items from her room, following a suspected burglary at No. 2 Igbukwu Street in Abakaliki.

Nwankwo stated this while speaking with DAILY POST on Monday, appealing for help as the incident has left her devastated, especially since she bought the items in preparation for opening her own shop upon completing her apprenticeship.

According to her, the burglar(s) made off with her sewing machine, electric iron, rechargeable fan, 5-kg gas cylinder, Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards, and a rechargeable fan.

She explained that the incident occurred while she travelled to the village for Christmas and New Year celebrations. To her surprise, upon her return, she found her room had been vandalised.

Nwankwo, who said that the loss of the items has left her in a devastating situation, appealed to security agencies to strengthen their security measures in the Abakaliki area, hoping they will assist her in recovering the stolen items.

A neighbour, Mrs Stella Ede, who confirmed the incident, said they were saddened by the development. She mentioned that members of her family had been awake until midnight on the day the incident occurred and prayed that the items would be recovered.
