Cardiff vs Leeds predictions: Bluebirds’ struggles to continue at home

– Cardiff have only scored one goal in the Championship in five matches
– Leeds have kept three clean sheets in their last four games in the league

Under 0.5 Cardiff City goals

Cardiff will hope to move off the foot of the Championship table when they host Leeds on Saturday.

The Bluebirds have lost four of their first five games and struggled to find the back of the net, while Leeds have collected eight points from their opening five matches.

Leeds ran out 3-0 winners when the two teams met in January, and they will hope for another comfortable win to improve their promotion chances.

Team News

Cardiff coach Erol Bulut is without Jamilu Collins, Isaak Davies, Kion Etete, Jesper Daland and Ryotaro Tsunoda due to injury.

Leeds defender Joe Rodon has struggled with a glute injury and will need to pass a fitness test, while Junior Firpo, Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell have also been dealing with niggles this week.

Winger Dan James is still sidelined with a hamstring problem and is not expected to return until October at the earliest.

Cardiff have only picked up one point so far under Bulut, and their goal difference sits at -10 after they conceded 11 goals during that five-game run.

Including the end of last season, Cardiff have only won one of their last six home games in the Championship.

Leeds’ unbeaten run was ended by Burnley last week in a 1-0 defeat, but that was the first goal they had conceded in four matches.

The Whites beat Cardiff last time the sides met in January, and they have not lost any of their previous four meetings with the Welsh outfit.

Prediction

Leeds were a touch unfortunate to lose against Burnley last week, with the Clarets scoring with their only real chance on goal.

Daniel Farke’s side could have grabbed an equaliser if they had lifted the tempo at Elland Road, and they will no doubt have learned their lessons from that defeat.

Even if several of their first-team players cannot feature, Leeds have great strength in depth. Cardiff have failed to score against easier opposition this season, so it is tough to see them troubling Leeds’ resilient backline.
