Ceasefire agreement: Russia can’t be trusted – EU foreign policy chief, Kallas

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas has claimed that Russia can’t be trusted amid a 30-day ceasefire proposal in a bid to end the war in Ukraine.

Speaking at a news conference in Brussels on Monday, Kallas also said there is no negotiation yet because Russia has not come to the negotiation table.

“The understanding around the table is that Russia can’t really be trusted,” Kallas said.

“They will seize this opportunity to present all kinds of demands.”

Asked how the EU will be involved in the ongoing negotiations on the war in Ukraine, Kallas added, “There’s no negotiation table yet because Russia is not coming to the negotiation table.”

Recall that peace talks between the United States and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia some days ago led to a 30-day ceasefire proposal.

President Donald Trump recently confirmed plans to speak to Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Tuesday and discuss ending the war in Ukraine after positive talks between United States and Russian officials in Moscow.

Trump stated this while speaking with reporters on Air Force One during a late flight back to the Washington area from Florida.

“We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. I’ll be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday,” Trump said.
