Chief of Army Chief Lt Gen Oluyede charges troops to stamp out security threats

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on Friday, 14 March 2025, paid a working visit to the Headquarters of the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, stated that while addressing troops of the brigade at the parade ground in Owena Cantonment, Oluyede said he was on a familiarisation tour to obtain first-hand information on the state of troops’ welfare, evaluate ongoing operations, and assess administrative challenges. This, he noted, is part of his overall plan to transform the Nigerian Army for greater operational effectiveness.

He urged officers and soldiers to work in synergy with sister services, other security agencies, and the intelligence community to eliminate all security threats within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.

He also admonished the troops to eschew all forms of unprofessional conduct while carrying out their constitutional duties.

General Oluyede commended the troops for their efforts and encouraged them to be more proactive and deliberate in their operations. He emphasised the need for tenacity in securing Nigeria and ensuring that the resources allocated for security are justified.

He further observed that achieving lasting peace would facilitate socio-economic development and prosperity across the country.
