Cleric raises concern of state of airport road in Effurun, tasks Gov Oborevwori to intervene

A Christian cleric in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Prophet Austin Ariole has raised concerns over the condition of the Airport road, as well as the Praise Centre road linking Sokoh Estate in Effurun.

He noted that although the state government started the construction of the airport road with a massive drainage, the contractor appeared to have abandoned the project.

Ariole, who is also the General Overseer of Goshen Freedom Tabernacle, warned that the condition of the road would be ”disastrous if it’s not completed before the rainy seasons.”

He appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently intervene and mobilize the contractor back to the site to complete the airport road project before the rainy season sets in.

“I am very worried about that road because they just did one kilometre and abandoned it and I asked the reason for that and they said it was not captured. But I heard there’s a high-profile government official in that area and that’s why his portion was done. I believe that road was done from taxpayers’ money. Therefore, it will be an injustice to do that part and leave the other part because there’s no politician at that end.

“So, it’s a call also for the governor to look into it and quickly re-award the contract so that it will be linked from that place to Sokoh Estate.

“If you look again, Sokoh Estate, linking Japka Road from Airport Road, they started with all strength and power. They did drainage and abandoned the project. This is not healthy. Please, the governor should hear this. Most of the things these contractors are doing, they’re giving the Governor a bad name. They should complete any project they start because it is for the service of Deltans.”
