The Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) paid a condolence visit to the Gboko community, Mbayion, the immediate host community of its Gboko plant as well as the family of Aboy Ka-Amua, the youth who was killed by a trigger-happy soldier recently.
The team from Dangote comprised top management personnel from the corporate headquarters and was led by the first Independent Director Chief Emmanuel Ikhazoboh.
They were received in the audience by the Chairman of the Gboko local government council Verlumun Avar and other traditional and community leaders at the palace of the Ter Gboko His Royal Highness Gabriel Shosum over the weekend.
After a closed-door meeting with the community leaders, the DIL team proceeded to the home of the slain youth to sympathise with the family over the tragedy.
The Guardian gathered that the DIL team mandated the management of the Dangote Cement Plant Gboko to go into negotiations with the Yion Development Association (YIDA) who are the immediate host community for an amicable resolution of the issue which had generated tension between the company and host community leading to the closure of the cement plant for several days after the killing of the youth.

The Guardian further learnt that the community constituted a committee led by Terna Abeda which has already engaged the management of the Gboko plant in dialogue.
Abeda told The Guardian that in addition to other interventions to the host community and the family, the company has also offered permanent employment to two members of the Amua family as part of her efforts to assuage feelings.
Other members of the DIL include the Group MD, Arvind Parthak; Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Byamungisha; Group Chief Security Officer (CSO) office of the President DIL Yakubu Alkali, Ademola Adeyemi and some members of management of the Gboko plant of Dangote Cement.
On the part of the community were the President-General Jemgbagh Development Association Prince Yandev Amaabai, HRH Ikpah Ahua, District Heads of Mbatyu and Ukpekpe Kunav Anom and Igba Tsegba as well as President YIDA Orver Yongu.
Aboy Ka-Amua, the slain youth died from a bullet wound at the back of his head fired by one of the soldiers guarding the company at Nege village, some kilometers after the cement plant on the morning of September 9, 2024. The reason for the shooting is yet to be ascertained but the soldier is said to be in police custody.
