Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has slammed Leandro Trossard following the midfielder’s red card in the first half of their 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.
Manchester City and played out a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League at the Etihad on Sunday.
The Cityzens took the lead through Erling Haaland but Arsenal responded through new signings Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhães.
Trossard was shown a yellow card in the 15th minute for delaying to restart the game and a second yellow was shown to the Belgian in the stoppage time for kicking the ball away after the referee’s whistle.
Speaking on Premier League Production after the game, Wright said: “I’m very disappointed with Trossard. How you come to a place like the Etihad, and you do a foul like that when you’re on the yellow, which was quite, it was quite testing, but then to kick the ball away in any way, you know, I mean, you’re kind of like bringing you, giving the referee an opportunity. And that is probably something that, when you look back, is in the grand scheme of things.
“It will be as poor play from here; there’s poor play from him. Simple as that. So I think the rest of the guys have done unbelievably; it’d have been an interesting game of 11 against 11.”
