EPL: We love, trust him – Martinelli tips Arsenal teammate to become world’s best player

Arsenal forward, Gabriel Martinelli has backed teammate, Myles Lewis-Skelly to become one of the best players in the world.

Martinelli said Mikel Arteta’s side love and trust the 18-year-old left-back, who was outstanding against Aston Villa.

The Brazilian spoke after Arsenal’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Goals from Martinelli and Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a 2-0 goal lead.

But Aston Villa responded in the second half half through goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins.

VAR then denied Mikel Arteta’s side a late winner when Havertz turned in Mikel Merino’s shot with three minutes remaining.

Havertz’s goal was ruled out as the German was adjudged to have used his arm as he turned the ball in.

“We love him,” said Martinelli at his post-match interview when asked about the 18-year-old after the game. “He’s brilliant, a star boy.

“We trust him. I think he’s going to be one of the best players in the world in the future.”
