EPL: Why Haaland signed nine-and-a-half contract with Man City – Guardiola

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has given more details on the new contract for Erling Haaland.

On Friday, the Premier League champions announced that Haaland has signed a nine-and-a-half year deal with the club.

This new agreement ties the Norwegian striker to City until he turns 33.

When asked about the length of the contract, Guardiola told reporters: “The club decided it.

“Erling wouldn’t have signed it if he didn’t imagine being here in 10 years. Both the club and Erling decided it.”

Guardiola was also asked if the long deal was to protect Haaland’s value.

He replied: “What happens in this kind of situation, he feels it.

“He feels that for him it is the right move for his career and of course he is a special player.

“The cub made a huge effort to have him and he decided on it.”
