FCT Police make discovery of dangerous weapons after Abuja shooting incident


An alarming array of weapons have been recovered from one Obinna Nwigwe, a 33-year-old man at the Najob Guest House in Bwari in Bwari Area Council.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police said the discovery followed a reported gunfire incident in the area on December 26, 2024.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Josephine Adeh said in a statement on Tuesday that upon arrival at the scene, operatives of the command “discovered 29-year-old Andrew Philemon bleeding from critical injuries after being shot by 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe”.

According to the statement, Nwigwe claimed that the shooting was an act of self-defense following a heated argument between him and Andrew.

“At the time of the incident, Nwigwe was armed with a pump-action rifle”, the PPRO said.

Josephine added that a thorough search of Nwigwe’s residence yielded an “alarming array of weapons”, including five dane guns, one English-made single barrel, an AK47 magazine containing 29 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, four live cartridges, seventeen expanded cartridges, a bow with arrows, various knives, a sword stick, a toy gun amongst others.

“A taser and a bulletproof jacket with multiple sets of police uniforms and boots were also recovered from the suspect.”

“Andrew Philemon is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, while Obinna Nwigwe is expected to face charges once the investigation concludes”, the statement added.
