Fire has destroyed a section of a market opened in Yola as a temporary commercial centre for traders dislodged from the old market complex.
The old market which was pulled down after a fire razed the structures last year, is currently being rebuilt.
DAILY POST gathered Thursday afternoon that a fire outbreak over the night of Wednesday, January 8, affected a section of the temporary market, leaving traders mourning their losses.
The incident, which sources said started around 11:30 pm on Wednesday, destroyed numerous shops and goods as it spread rapidly, fueled by flammable materials.
Fire fighters and local volunteers worked tirelessly to contain the blaze, preventing it from engulfing the entire market.
No human casualties have been reported but many traders lost goods and are deeply devastated.
The state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has expressed his sympathies to the affected traders and promised support to alleviate their pain.
