Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has expressed happiness that he is no longer the only governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South South region of Nigeria, which has six states.
Governor Otu expressed the belief that by the next general election in 2027, the number will further increase.
This was contained in a statement signed by Gill Nsa, Chief Press Secretary to Otu, in reaction to the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo.
He stressed that “it is a promising indication of unity and collaboration that will fortify the South-south region’s position in national politics.”
Governor Otu characterized the party’s triumph “as a testament to diligence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to public service, accentuating the party’s fundamental values and principles.”
He maintained his conviction that Senator Okpebholo would uphold those ideals as he steers the state towards a brighter future.
Otu lauded the active participation of the people of Edo State in the election, emphasizing that their votes unequivocally echoed, underscoring the robust foundation of democracy in the country.
“The outcome of the election underscored the importance of citizens exercising their democratic prerogative and the consequential impact it wields on the political landscape of our nation”, Otu added.
