Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered an immediate halt to the demolitions in Rimin Zakara, a town in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The governor issued the directive on Thursday during his visit to the town where four people were killed during demolitions.
He stated that suspending the demolitions was necessary to protect the lives and property of residents.
Governor Yusuf also vowed to bring an end to the long-standing dispute in the area, which has persisted for over 30 years.
Expressing his condolences, he sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives and those who sustained injuries.
Additionally, he directed the construction of a central Jumu’at mosque in Rimin Zakara as a tribute to the deceased.
He assured that the Kano State Government would continue to cover the medical expenses of the injured until they fully recover.
The governor also revealed that a committee has been set up to investigate the matter thoroughly.
He then u,rged the residents to cooperate with the government in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property at all times.
He also promised to implement developmental projects in Rimin Zakara to improve the town’s infrastructure.
