The Benue State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed the abduction of one of its personnel, Inspector Nathaniel Kumashe.
The command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Ahula, confirmed the development to journalists on Thursday in Makurdi, the state capital.
Ahula stated that the officer, who is currently serving in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area, was kidnapped at about 10 pm on Wednesday.
According to her, the officer was abducted at his country home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, in Tarka LGA, shortly after returning from his late cousin’s wake.
She added that the armed men fired gunshots to scare his family members and neighbours before taking him away.
It was further learnt that the victim might have been moved to a kidnappers’ hideout in the neighbouring Guma LGA of the state.
