The victim’s wife said she and the children found him after someone gave them a ride home from school.
HOUSTON — A woman said she came home Friday to find her husband, a Spring Branch ISD employee, shot inside their northwest Harris County home. He was declared dead at the scene.
The man, whose identity hasn’t’ been released, was found shot inside the home on Mallard Stream Court. That’s in the Willow Springs subdivision near TC Jester and Fallbrook.
During a news conference Friday night, Harris County Sgt. Ben Beall said a call came shortly after 4 p.m. to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office. They arrived and found the shooting victim’s wife at the home. Her husband, a 37-year-old man, had been shot.
According to Beall, the woman said her husband, who works for the Spring Branch ISD, was supposed to pick up her and their kids from school at around 2:30 p.m. When he didn’t show up, she said they caught a ride home and found him.
At this point, we don’t know a motive in the shooting. Investigators also said they don’t have a suspect or vehicle description to give out but could release that information Friday night or Saturday morning.
From information gathered in the neighborhood, Beall said they were able to narrow down the time of the shooting to sometime between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
“He was outside trimming the tree in front of the house,” Beall said. “It appears he entered the house, probably to recover some other equipment, and that’s when he was approached by unknown persons. We have shell casings in the house and it appears the cause of death is probably going to be a gunshot wound.
Homicide detectives are hoping to find more answers on surveillance video.
A chaplain from Spring Branch ISD was at the family’s home to provide support Friday night.
