Jordan Pickford makes claim about Chelsea’s Cole Palmer despite zero minutes at Euro 2024 so far

The Chelsea attacker was truly sensational last year during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, which led to him being crowned the Premier League Young Player of the Season.

Despite his heroics in club football recently, Palmer finds himself sitting on the bench at the international level.

England have kickstarted their Euro 2024 tournament with a win against Serbia and a draw with Denmark so far, but the Chelsea playmaker has been an unused substitute in both matches.

Despite the fact he’s had zero minutes yet at the Euros, Palmer has clearly still impressed some behind the scenes.

England’s number one goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has claimed that the Chelsea star has been excellent in training. He’s convinced he could make an impact if he gets on the pitch, too.

When asked how Palmer is looking, Pickford told ITV Sport: “Yeah, he’s been quality in training. I know he slotted four past me for Chelsea last season. We all know the quality he has. He’s another one who’s ready if he gets selected.”

Chelsea star can lift England

England have only scored two goals in two matches so far at the Euros. The alarming truth is that they’ve looked pretty stale and quiet as an attacking threat for large spells.

If you’re England boss Gareth Southgate, you should be looking towards your 26-man squad to see if there’s any game-changers available to him.

We struggle to think of another country at the tournament that would completely overlook Palmer this summer based off the year he’s just had.

When you see how poorly England have played recently, it’s baffling Palmer is sat watching from the sidelines. Let’s hope he gets his first minutes of the competition against Slovenia, even if it’s a cameo display late on.
