The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with the Inspired Youth Network (IYP) and Action Aid, held a one-day Youth Summit on Agroecology and Food System to empower young people.
Commissioner for the Ministry of Youths and Social Development, Mobolaji Abubakre, who was represented by the Director of Youths Development, Saka Abdulateef, stated that farming has become important to youths Sustainability which is part of the Governor’s commitment to a better Lagos.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Kalesanwo Oluyemi appreciated the initiative of the IYP while noting that with the state of the nation, Farming has to be taken seriously.
Kalesanwo was ably represented by the Assistant Director of the Ministry, Yetunde Adeola, who stated that Women and Youths must embrace farming as a part of Life.

The Chief Executive Officer, Inspired Youth Network, Ayomide Olugbode, said “As young people, we are the inheritors of a world facing unprecedented challenges in terms of climate change, food security, and environmental degradation.”
“We must ensure we take actions to address the inherited challenges.”
The CEO, who was represented by the Programme Officer of the Network, Oluwatoyin Adejokun, added that the food system is at the heart of Nigeria’s problems.
