LG chairman, deputy removed over alleged mismanagement in Bauchi


The Legislative Council of Shira Local Government in Bauchi State has removed the Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli, and his Deputy, Hon. Usman Adamu, from office over allegations of failing to cooperate with the council and lacking transparency in the management of local government funds.

Council Leader Wali Adamu, who is set to replace the former chairman, made this announcement at the Bauchi State Legislative Council premises while addressing journalists. He stated that the decision was necessary to uphold truth and justice in the administration of Shira Local Government and Bauchi State as a whole.

In an official press release, the council stated:

“This council appointed a committee to investigate allegations of gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, failure to perform duties, and abuse of office against the Chairman of Shira Local Government and his Deputy. The committee has submitted its report, which has been reviewed by the council, and it has found both officials guilty of the allegations made against them. Therefore, the council hereby removes Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli as Chairman and Hon. Usman Adamu as Deputy Chairman of Shira Local Government, effective immediately.”

The press release further explained the grounds for their removal, stating:

“The investigation committee established that the Chairman and his Deputy were engaged in financial mismanagement, failed to perform their duties, breached the trust placed in them, and abused their office.”

Following their removal, the council officially declared the offices of the Chairman and Vice Chairman vacant.
